Igniv Restaurant

Inspired by the name, meaning “nest” in the Rhaetho-Romanic language, the project aims to recreate the typical conviviality of a nest, in accordance with the Chef Andreas Caminada’s kitchen philosophy of sharing.

The project consists in overlapping a layer made of vertical nautical ropes to the existing walls: they form a brilliant grey screen which leaves the XX century decorations and lozenges visible. Within this new ‘nest’, the seating areas are organized in the two main rooms.

The project coexists with the historical layers and the design approach of Patricia Urquiola; at the same time, it becomes the tool to enhance the sensorial experience of Andreas Caminada, by fostering the local characteristics of the place and the view beyond the big windows, framing the Saint Moritz lake.
